Our Journey

Founded in 2020, Poetic Black Gurl was created to address the critical gaps in mental health programming, and we didn’t stop there. Each PBG CARE Package™ is a customizable experience designed to meet the evolving needs of underrepresented communities through a powerful mix of study skills support, hygiene education, social-emotional learning, and post-secondary guidance.

Publishing Projects

Student & Community Authorship

Poetic Black Gurl supports students and community members in becoming published authors by guiding them through reflective writing, storytelling, and collaborative publishing experiences. Through workshops and extended series, participants develop original pieces that can be compiled into journals, anthologies, and showcase publications, allowing their voices to live beyond the classroom or program space. This process builds literacy, confidence, and ownership while creating tangible artifacts that celebrate identity, perspective, and collective impact.
